About Us

The Dancin' Dudes and Dolls is a young square dance club, mostly comprised of teenagers. Our mission from the very beginning was to provide our young Christian adults a chance to interact with each other in a fun, relaxed atmosphere.
The Dancin' Dudes and Dolls were welcomed into the Sam Houston Association in June of 2007, at the event of their first graduation ceremony where diplomas were presented to 25 teenage members.

As a family-focused activity, square dance continues to attract more and more interest in our area. Since the last Moonlight Marathon was such a success, last August, the 3D’s to hosted a 12-hour, overnight Square Dance-a-thon. Through the Square Dance-a-thon the 3D’s, and friends, were we raised over $3000 toward the 2010 Texas Teen Scholarship for Square and Round Dancing. We are very grateful to the Sam Houston Square and Round Dance Association and Texas State Federation of Square and Round Dancers for the monetary and moral support, which is freely given to our young members. This was a great opportunity for our club to give back to these wonderful organizations.

Because we wish to provide our teens opportunities to grow and lead, our entire officer body is comprised of teenagers. Juliana Hare, who is a senior in high school this year, is serving as President. Garrett Gervias, who is a junior, is serving as her Vice President. Sarah Hill, a sophomore, is the Secretary, and Rebecca Hill, a senior, will continue her job as treasurer. Bailey Rose is the 3D's webmaster. Lydian Pine, Tressie Hare, and Mandy Greer are be the 3D's hostess, Dylan and Ashlyn Sorge are the Facilities Management, and Caleb Hare and Adam Greer make the Facilities Team. Hannah Hill will keep the club in pictures and video as the club historian.

The Dancin' Dudes and Dolls official dance season is primarily August to December. During the spring and early summer months, many of our dancers participate in the National Christian Forensics and Communication Association (NCFCA) and Stoa leagues competing in speech and debate competitions throughout the state and nationally. It is because of this busy spring academic schedule that the 3D's host only a few monthly dances and drop in and visit other clubs during this time.

See you in a Square!!

Spirit article for Dancin Dudes and Dolls by Susan Hare
Howdy from the Dancin’ Dudes and Dolls.  The spring of 2011 brings us into the New Year trying something new with our 31 recent graduates ready to try some spring dances.  We will be hosting 3 spring dances on the 2nd Friday of January, February, and March of this year.  We will be dancing in Hempstead at the Hempstead Bible Fellowship Church.  It is located on HWY 290 just 1.5 miles west of the HWY 6 bypass, sitting beside Jr’s BBQ.  You can’t miss Jr.’s large blinking sign, so the building is easy to find. We dance from 7- 9:30 pm, with Matt Barnes normally calling. Occasionally, we will host a guest caller.

This fall of lessons for 31 new lesson takers was a lot of fun. It sped by and progressed with ease, especially because we had a lot of help from our Angels that came from our sister club, the Grand Squares, in Tomball.  We want to send a big Thank You to all of them that came out each week to help us out!

At Christmas this year, our teens were asked to dance a demo in a new venue, Christmas at Winedale. This was a 19th century folk life celebration, which was held Saturday, December 11, 2010, at the Winedale Historical Complex. The event featured the opportunity for the public to tour Winedale’s historically significant buildings.  The buildings were decorated as they would have been in the 1800s, and the public was able to enjoy stagecoach rides, folk life demonstrations and other entertainment. Our square dance group was able to provide examples of America’s national dance in a fun atmosphere at this wonderful festival.  It was a great experience for all. We hope that it helped attract interest to this great activity for everyone who attended.

If you are out our way in January, February, or March, be sure to join us.  We know you will enjoy meeting the group!
